Ranking

Plus500 ranks number 42 on TraderGuide’s ranking list. The ranking list is based on the cost of trading with Plus500, in the 16 most commonly traded instruments globally.

What you need to know about Plus500

Plus500 was established in 2008 and is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange as part of the FTSE 250. The broker holds multiple high-tier licences, including the FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia), CySEC (Cyprus), MAS (Singapore), and others—a level of regulation that gives it institutional credibility and investor protection in many markets.

Trading is conducted via Plus500’s own proprietary web and mobile platform, with no support for MT4, MT5, or third-party platforms .

What do we like about Plus500?

Plus500 delivers a clean, intuitive user interface that feels approachable from your first login. The platform—accessed via web or mobile—doesn't overwhelm with complexity, making it especially suited to beginners or casual traders.

Educationally, Plus500 offers a Trading Academy, e-books, video guides, and free webinars, although the depth of the content lags behind the most comprehensive brokers.

Client service is available 24/7 via live chat, WhatsApp, and email, supporting multiple languages and time zones—a rare benefit among CFD brokers. Overall, it's a structured, regulated platform with a low learning curve and reasonable support infrastructure.

What concerns us about Plus500?

At TraderGuide, we focus on spreads and the cost of trading with a broker. And across the board, Plus500 ranks among the most expensive platforms we've tested. In fact, they are costly in all 16 financial instruments we analyse.

Ironically, the only instrument where Plus500 shows competitive pricing is the SP500, which they offer at 0.60 points. But even here, many brokers listed on TraderGuide come in cheaper—as low as 0.30—making Plus500 less attractive for cost-conscious traders, even on their best instrument.

Other issues include additional fees—such as inactivity charges after three months, currency conversion fees up to 0.7%, and penal rates on small withdrawals. Community feedback has also flagged delayed withdrawals, moved stop-loss executions, and occasional technical glitches under volatility.

Should you trade with Plus500?

If your priority is low-cost trading with tight spreads and fast execution, Plus500 is not a fit. Its spread profile—across forex, indices, and commodities—is well above the rest of the market, making trading expensive in all categories we track.

However, if you value ease of use, regulatory oversight, and social or guided trading features over raw cost efficiency, the platform may still suit casual or long-term investors. But for active CFD or forex traders, we recommend checking out brokers on TraderGuide with tighter pricing and more transparent structures.

In short: Plus500 works—but in the competitive trading landscape, there are much cheaper and more efficient alternatives available.
